The Old Courtyard Hotel

Jacob and Rose first met in the Swiss Alps at pre-eminent hotelier school, Les Roches.
?After a first successful restaurant in the late 1990's, they happened upon the ruins of a mansion that belonged to a prominent Jewish family in the area, The Koders. The house that would eventually become The Old Courtyard, belonged to Lily Koder.
It was love at first sight for Jacob, who saw the potential of the 200 year old ruin. Not long after, the couple put their life's savings into restoring the gorgeous home into the Heritage Hotel it is today. Along with retaining the original arches and pillars, Jacob kept to the original Portuguese style in which the house was built and reappointed the rooms with antique furniture he collected from neighboring estates.
Today, The Old Courtyard Hotel, is an oasis for travelers seeking old world charm with modern day comforts. An unassuming door leads you into The Old Courtyard, where the noise outside falls away to a garden peppered with plants, flowering orchids and a little Jacuzzi pool.
